Big. Fast.

Who says you can’t have it all? When it comes to results in fitness you can certainly have it all.
You can get results quickly.
You can get BIG results.
And you can get results relatively easily.
Here’s the catch though; you can only have two of those characteristics at a time.
Yes you can have all three. You just can’t have all three at once. The more you pursue two of those, the more it’s going to come at the expense of the third.
But don’t let that discourage you. The power of choice is yours. It’s just a matter of figuring out which combination is right for you.
Fast results that are big.

This is the strategy that produces relatively impressive results in a short period of time. The downside to it is that it’s very costly to your lifestyle and can impose a substantial amount of
stress on mind and body.
This is typically the strategy employed by those who are rushing to get results as quickly as possible, or by those who are looking to reach the limits of their potential for an event like a competition.
It’s a strategy that’s well reserved for when you have ample resources like time and energy and your motivation is very high. Just be aware that this is not usually very sustainable for more than several weeks and typically does not produce the ultimate results you want.
Fast results that come relatively easy.

Quick and relatively easy results are a fantastic choice for the beginner. They helped to build up momentum and help you stack some early wins from the very start.
This is typically a choice for those who are also coming off of a long break or recovering from illness or injury.
The sacrificial quality of courses that the results are not going to be very big. They may also be a little hard to spot, depending on what you use to measure progress.
For example, you may notice an improvement in your energy level and feel stronger after a week or two of going to the gym. You may not lose any substantial weight or build some noticeable muscle, but the quick win is that you are feeling better within a relatively short period
of time.
Big results that come with relative ease.

Lastly this is the strategy I recommend for the greatest potential in overall success in fitness. It allows you to have the biggest and most worthwhile results while also conserving energy with a modest amount of effort to promote sustainability.
Of course, the consequence is that you are going to take much more time to achieve those results. This is not the approach that may be best for those who need to make something happen in a short period of time, nor is a conservative approach always best for when you can move forward at full speed.

However, sustainability and impressive results are typically the path for success throughout much of our training career and that’s why this is the way to approach things most of the time.
All three of these approaches have their pros and cons and it’s normal to switch from one strategy to the other throughout your training career.
Also, keep in mind that these qualities are relative to you and everyone else. Fast results may be something that occurs over the next several minutes, like relieving stress or feeling a satisfying muscle pump. Quick results could also be something that happens over several
weeks like losing weight.
A big result might mean losing 50 pounds for one person, or eliminating knee pain for another.
Furthermore, what may be easy for me may be difficult for you and vice versa. It’s all relative and I encourage you to adjust your habits accordingly.
But just knowing that you have the option to go from one strategy to the other, can help put you in more personal alignment to both help you achieve and sustain the results you want with the circumstances you find yourself in.
